This smaller version tote style handbag was fashioned for us by skillful Vietnamese artisans of vintage Hmong handwoven textiles featuring various traditional techniques: hand batik dying, hand embroidery and hand appliquées. The cloth was originally made as collars for Hmong women\'s jackets. When the garments wore out the fabric was preserved and repurposed. These textiles are beautiful and labor-intensive examples of traditional Vietnamese Hmong textile manufacture, an artistic style which is disappearing. The handle is of soft leather.
