About the designer:
Founded in 2015 by Legier Biederman (PhD), a L.A. based independent art historian and curator, LEGIER is a jewelry brand designed and manufactured in Los Angeles. Influenced by California mid-century hard edge painting as well as the tactile, fluid forms of Post-Minimalism, they juxtapose clean, hard edges in their jewelry designs with the organic, abstract forms of stones inlaid in the rough. LEGIER uses clean geometries to highlight the sublime forms of nature; it is reminiscent of 1960s-70s Land Art, where the rugged, timeless forms of the desert landscape are interrupted by the imposing, geometries of works such as Michael Heizer’s Double Negative (1970). Each piece attempts to balance supposed opposites, the organic and inorganic, abstract and concrete, feminine and masculine. LEGIER work with local, family run businesses to produce each collection and their gemstones are responsibly sourced.
