This Navajo rug is Ganado colors, woven in a Storm Pattern. The Storm Pattern rug is one of the most popular Navajo rug designs and is recognizable by its large central rectangle, four smaller rectangles - one in each corner - that are connected to the large rectangle by zig-zag lines. The precise origin of the pattern is unknown. Ganado-style rugs are known for their bright red color. The typical design has a black outside border with strong geometric patterns in natural gray and white wool and commercially dyed red and black wool.
