Detailed information on \"AALTO\" TUMBLER (GREEN) 4056 40ml

\"Bölgeblick\" won second prize in the pressed glass category of the Karhula–Iittala glass design competition held in 1932.
It was introduced internationally early on, being exhibited in London the following year in 1933, and manufacturing began at Karhula in 1934.
At the 1936 Milan Triennale, it won the Grand Prix for exhibition design, and the \"Bölgeblick\" series also received a gold medal.
Around 1937, it began to be sold as the \"Aalto\" series, named after the designer.

The name \"Bölgeblick\" is said to be related to the functionalist architecture \"Café Böljeblick\" that appeared at the 1930 Stockholm Exhibition, which is considered the starting point of Nordic modern design. It is regarded as a design born within the growing trend of Nordic modern design at the time.
In Finnish, \"Aalto\" means \"wave,\" and the concentric form spreading out like ripples has a double meaning, overlapping with the designer\'s name.
The distinctive stepped rings not only reflect light beautifully but also offer the practical advantage of allowing the vessels to be stacked for storage.
They also served to minimize air bubbles and wrinkle-like marks, which were common in mass-produced glass at the time.
It is one of the representative products of Nordic modern design, with the \"Aino Aalto\" series still being manufactured by Iittala today.

This is a tumbler with product number 4056 and a capacity of 40ml, a model manufactured at Karhula from 1936 to 1938.
It is part of the series exhibited at the 1936 Milan Triennale, where it won a gold medal.

*In good condition with no noticeable damage.
As a characteristic of glass products manufactured at the time, there may be bubbles, wrinkles, and distortions, and individual differences in size and shape.
While noticeable damage is described, please understand that other minor scratches and scuffs are to be expected for an item approximately 90 years old.
Due to its rarity, it has been sourced according to different standards than our usual products.
We appreciate your understanding in this regard.
