Detailed information on Latifa\'s Midnight Black Hanbel

This intricate Hanbel was designed by Latifa and will be woven by artisans from the Aït Ouaouzguite tribe.

Latifa is part of a collective of women artisans just outside Tazenakht, a village renowned for its weaving traditions. She learned the craft from her mother-in-law, Mlouka, a respected matriarch in the weaving community.

Each design element comes entirely from Latifa’s imagination. The symbols woven into the rug represent protection from evil, strength, beauty, and respect—echoing themes deeply rooted in Amazigh culture.

While the base weave is flat, the raised motifs add depth and dimension, bringing texture and meaning to every thread.
