Detailed information on Antique Oak Smokers Cabinet with Bevelled Glass Door and Royal Doulton Lambeth Tobacco Jar (c.1900–1920)

An early 20th century oak smokers cabinet fitted with its Royal Doulton Lambeth stoneware tobacco jar.


The cabinet is constructed in solid oak with visible quarter-sawn figuring to the sides and door. The front retains its original bevelled edge glass panel and brass catch. Internally there are fitted shelf supports and a lower drawer with original brass drop handle.


The jar is impressed to the base:

It features raised “TOBACCO” lettering within a circular applied border of dark glazed sprig decoration. The reverse carries an applied medallion motif. The lid is decorated with turquoise and dark glazed floral detailing and retains its original ceramic knop.


The proportions and period of both elements are consistent. A practical and decorative early 20th century domestic piece.
