Garnets are a group of silicate minerals with species ranging in colour from red, green and even colour change varieties.

Almandine garnet is the most common mineral variety and is prized for it\'s rich crimson hue. Often very dark or brownish, finding vivid red crystals are the most desirable. 

Belonging to the cubic crystal system, these stones form in dodecahedrons, trapezohedrons and combinations of the two.
