Tracing the steps of Provence’s famous impressionist painters took us on a leisurely stroll along the flower market in the most picturesque square in Aix-en-Provence. Covered in a sea of roses, peonies, dahlias and other floral delights, it was the dahlia flower with its seemingly infinite variations of jewel-bright colours and shapes that stood out on this warm, sunny morning. Just as Paul Cézanne was drawn to the flowers and immortalised them on canvas, so was Michael Vincent Michaud inspired to create a Dahlia collection.
Originating from the high plains of Mexico, Dahlias were first cultivated by the ancient Aztecs before being introduced to Europe in 1789. Arriving at the Royal Botanical Gardens in Madrid, they were named by Abbe Cavanille in honour of Andreas Dahl, Swedish scientist come environmentalist and quickly became popular across Europe.
Dahlias come in a huge variety of shades and each colour represents a different meaning. The romantic delicate light pink hues featured in our Dahlia collection are associated with kindness, feminine beauty, and grace.
Materials: The Dahlia Bracelet is cast in bronze with 24kt gold plating and hand-cast glass elements in shades of Indian pink.
