The LiTE lenses offer extensive protection of the eye against light-induced oxidative stress and help to prevent disturbances in hormonal balance.

In the short-wave range up to 500nm, the blue range - which has the most damaging effect on cells and hormonal balance, LiTE lenses filter out about 92% of the light.

To ensure better colour recognition and brightness, the LiTE lense has a higher transparency than the alternative filter, the PRO lense, in the less problematical blue-green range between 500nm and 550nm with 50% transmission.

We therefore recommend the LiTE filter for daytime use, when the back ground daylight is also helping to offset the damaging effects of the intense artificial light spectrums. Also for occasions when a better colour recognition is necessary, for example when working on a computer, editing pictures or where you need to be able to react to more subtle signals from our environment.

Healthy eyes in modern times

Modern flatscreens (PC, TV, tablet, smartphone etc) emit a light with a strong content of short wavelength blue light. In nature blue light is always balanced by red light, but this is not the case with these screens. Scientific studies have shown that this light can damage the retina of the eyes.

Are you familiar with burning, red eyes after working on the computer for a long time? Light with a high blue-light content greatly influences the hormonal balance and can lead to greater levels of stress on the body resulting not only in sleeping disorders (disruption of melatonin production and release) but a general disruption of natural circadian rhythms.

Watching screens in the evening without blue light protection increases stress on hormonal balance so that many of us cannot \"switch off in the evening and at night, interfering with natural circadian \"rest and repair\" cycles ( also called autophagy and apoptosis) and hence regeneration is impaired. This can impact chronic health conditions.

Which filter is the right one for you: PRO or LiTE?

This product: LiTE filtering lenses: The natural protective functions within the eye have been the model for our LiTE filter: At the spot of most acute vision, the macula lutea (or yellow spot), the pigments lutein and zeaxanthin shield the retina cells from aggressive short-wave radiation which causes cell damage through free radical formation. Although this natural protection mostly filters out light in the violet and blue range ( >500 nm), filtering properties are observed even in the blue-green wavelengths up to 550 nm.

The LiTE lenses filter optimally protects against short-wave radiation (blue light), by filtering out 92% of light below 500nm, and in addition filtering out about 50% of the light in the blue-green range (500-550nm)

Please note: the LiTE version of lenses gives you better colour rendering with a shorter adjustment period than the PRO lense, and is suitable for less sensitive types or is recommended as a \"beginners filter with blue light protection averaging at about 95%.
