Combined antique optical set consisting of a wooden eyeglass shipping box postmarked April 24, 1922, and an earlier pair of rimless eyeglasses produced by the American Optical Company in the early 1900s. The box reflects early 20th century mailing and storage practices for optical goods. The eyeglasses represent period American wire-frame construction with oval glass lenses and gold-filled components. The eyeglasses predate the box and are not represented as an original pairing.

ConditionBox: Good antique condition with surface wear, soiling from age, shipping, and storage, and one noted edge chip to the wood.Eyeglasses: Fair antique condition with very light surface scratches to original lenses, very minor flea bites along lens edges that do not affect viewing, visible greening at lens edges and along inside temples, and general wear consistent with age. Uncleaned; disassembly and cleaning required.
