These goslings, hatched on May 11, 2022, in Daniel, Wyoming, were my first baby bird photos ever. And they’re incredibly special to me. When I first started watching them, they were lying quietly by mom, but as soon as she called them in, they climbed onto her wings, huddling together. For half an hour, they stayed like that—until one by one, they popped out, ready to explore.

Dad, hiding behind a rock, joined them with pride, walking behind his family and protecting them at every step. It was a beautiful dance of teamwork and love. I even got to witness them eating, drinking, and taking their first swim.
