From the high-altitude tea gardens of Wudong Mountain in Chaozhou, Guangdong, this Wudong Ju Duo Zai Phoenix Dancong is crafted from carefully selected spring leaves, hand-processed with traditional techniques. Recognized as one of the ten classic fragrance types of Phoenix Dancong, it is celebrated for its distinctive almond aroma that sets it apart among Dancong teas.

The name “Ju Duo Zai”  (锯朵仔) comes from the local Chaozhou dialect, meaning “leaves with serrated edges,” an accurate reflection of the tea’s natural leaf shape. The dry leaves are tightly twisted, slender, and glossy with a dark brown hue, more delicate and refined compared to other Dancong teas.

When brewed, the tea reveals an enchanting bouquet of almond and woody notes, interwoven with subtle floral and fruity undertones. The liquor is full-bodied, smooth, and satisfying, with a quick and lasting sweetness that lingers on the palate. The infused leaves are soft and bright, with edges tinged in crimson, known as “green belly, red edge”, a hallmark of traditional Dancong craftsmanship.

In the summer of 2025, during my visit to Chaozhou, I had the honor of tasting this tea for the first time with local tea master Mr. Wu, a guardian of Phoenix Dancong’s intangible cultural heritage. That very first sip left a deep impression, an unforgettable sense of satisfaction and delight.
