a perpetual gaze (inwards) is an old tree dian hong red tea from Yiwu Mountain in Yunnan, China.

It’s a rather.. conceptual tea.

I approached this tea from an idea, a philosophy of life that my mother would often refer to. Growing up in the face of hardship, she would always say life was a lot like a stone fruit. It starts sour, so that it may grow into something sweet.

As the first tea in the collection, I wanted the tea to hold abrasions of the real world while bringing attention and sensitivity to the introspective yet collective heart of tea as medicine. I feel this tea speaks this story rather well.

With some years of age, the sour qualities of this tea have sweetened into a wonderful complexity of welcomed profiles that feel elusive and playful to trace, yet hold and present.
