It always gives me great pleasure to ârescueâ a beautiful piece of jewelry from yesteryear, and this was no exception. I recently acquired a classic Native American necklace that was in terrible condition. Working carefully, I was able to salvage and reuse the magnificent, vintage, (1940âs) hand-stamped and crafted sterling silver Hogan beads, round and lozenge-shaped beads, and hand-formed shell beads. From another vintage Native necklace, I chose a piece of natural, top-grade Kingman Turquoise as a center stone to complete the piece. I hand-made period-accurate ends for the necklace and strung it on heavy-duty material. I chose not to polish the beads, keeping their lovely patina for the new owner. Is that you?
