The shelving unit has one drawer for hidden storage and four open shelves for displaying decorative objects or books. Each shelf’s veneer top is chevron-patterned: carefully selected and laid by hand to highlight the oak grain’s intricate markings. The posts are hand-carved, made of quarter-sawn solid oak, and expertly sanded to taper with double-sided coving. Notice the coving detail carried to the bottom of each shelf. The oak Bertram Etagere is ultimately elegant, measuring around 68 inches in height.
